Nigeria, a country that invites to dream. Yes, it is indeed. But not for all those living in areas where hardly any white man has ever gone, far away from the tourist resorts. In regions where poverty reigns, in places where children have to dig into garbage to prevent starvation, where reams of homeless and beggars end up under the bridge.
Where people are defenseless exposed to the risk of infection by plagues, such as malaria, typhoid fever, cholera, and hepatitis. Foul water, malnutrition, medical under-supply: Be it poverty, lack of medical doctors, medics, medical equipment, or pharmaceuticals.
Nigeria has a total area of 923 768 square km; it is about 2.6 times the size of Germany. Statistically in Nigeria only one medical doctor tales care for more than 4,000 people. So, with a population density of 142 people per square km, each medical doctor is responsible for an area of 29 square km. This is only a statistical value, as most doctors practise in the large cities.
Home visits by a doctor and ambulances are virtually non-existent. Critically ill persons have to be taken to and attended at far away hospitals by their relatives or neigbours.
Accident victims are often left unattended for hours at the roadside.
IF EVERYBODY WANTED TO HELP ANOTHER ONE IT WOULD BE A GREAT HELP FOR EVERYONE !
